Dear Listeners,

I am delighted to share with you the first installment of my long-term project devoted to the violin works of Grażyna Bacewicz – a composer brimming with passion, courage, and boundless creativity. My fascination with her music began during the pandemic, when I first discovered the colorful and virtuosic world she created for the violin. Over time, that initial spark evolved into a full-fledged adventure, culminating in this album.
I had the pleasure of working with wonderful artists: the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Modestas Pitrėnas, and the pianist Tymoteusz Bies. We recorded most of the pieces in Lithuania – in Vilnius and at Paliesius. The unique atmosphere and the beauty of the Lithuanian landscapes, so closely tied to Bacewicz’s paternal roots, lent an extra radiance to the music and allowed me to delve even deeper into its spirit.
I was also fortunate to collaborate with outstanding sound engineers: Vilius Keras, Aleksandra Kerienė, and Beata Jankowska-Burzyńska. Their dedication and meticulous attention to detail made it possible to capture both the breathtaking virtuosity of Bacewicz’s works and their most delicate, lyrical moments.
Let “Violin Odyssey: Bacewicz vol. 1” be your invitation to continue this musical journey. I look forward to uncovering more of Grażyna Bacewicz’s rich legacy on the violin, and I hope you will join me every step of the way.
