“No One Surpasses the Red Priest
We all enjoy listening to familiar hits now and then. Even violinist Janusz Wawrowski—renowned for uncovering the forgotten Violin Concerto by Ludomir Różycki and tirelessly performing new Eastern European music—and the AUKSO Orchestra, known for their unmatched versatility, are no exception. And is there a greater classic than Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons?
These four spectacular compositions, which lay dormant in archives for nearly two centuries, have since the 20th century been recorded over 1,000 times. One of those recordings, Nigel Kennedy’s 1986 rendition, sold an astonishing 3 million copies. The pieces have appeared in over 500 films and inspired countless remixes—including one by Bach himself. The most famous reimagining, by Max Richter, revealed Vivaldi as the forefather of cinematic minimalism.
Empires rise and fall, humanity dreams of colonizing Mars, and artificial intelligence begins to compose music. Yet no one has captured the beauty of human emotions and natural phenomena in sound better than the Red Priest.”
